A Night Out in Seoul: From Dak-hanmari to a Cozy LP Bar
Today was all about catching up with two old friends I hadn’t seen in a while. We planned a full evening of good food, drinks, and great music across Seoul!

1. Jinokhwa Halmae Original Dak-hanmari (진옥화 할매 원조 닭한마리)
We kicked off the night at this famous spot located between Jongno 5-ga and Dongdaemun Station. Since it’s right near Gwangjang Market, the area is always packed with international travelers. It must be super famous on travel guides!
Dak-hanmari literally translates to “a whole chicken.” Honestly, most Dak-hanmari places in Seoul taste pretty similar—which is to say, delicious! The savory broth and tender chicken never disappoint. The only downside? The restaurant got pretty hot inside, which makes total sense given that every single table had a pot of soup boiling on high heat.

2. Heyday (헤이데이)
After dinner, we headed over to a spot called Heyday. It had a really cool, stylish pub vibe. The owner looked super hip, and they played great music at a lively volume—perfect for building up the evening mood.

3. Hayoung Super (하영슈퍼)
Our third stop was Hayoung Super, which has a traditional Gamaek (가맥) feel.
Gamaek is short for “store beer” (Gage Maekju). It’s a unique Korean nightlife culture that started in Jeonju, where small local corner shops or convenience-style stores set up simple tables so people can buy cheap beer and simple snacks right off the shelf. It’s super casual and laid-back!

4. A Cozy LP Bar near Miasagori
We were getting ready to call it a night, but one of my friends insisted on having one last drink. So, we headed over to an LP bar near Miasagori Station.
It ended up being an amazing choice! The atmosphere was fantastic—the walls were completely lined with vinyl records, and the sound quality coming from the speakers was incredible. It was the perfect place to wind down the night.
By the time I finally got home, it was almost midnight. It was a long, fun-filled night out with great company!
