A Perfect Sunday Date in Nowon: Outback Ordering Hacks, Cinema, and Home-Cooked Noodles!!
Last Sunday, my girlfriend and I spent a relaxing date day around Nowon Station. Since I had been super busy preparing for an upcoming exam lately, I hadn’t been able to take her out on proper dates as much as I wanted. It was finally time to step up and be a good boyfriend!
To top it off, a close friend from my military service days had gifted me an Outback Steakhouse gift voucher for my birthday, making it the perfect excuse for a feast.

1. Mastering the Outback Steakhouse Hacks !!
I’ve been visiting Outback Steakhouse quite a bit recently, so I’ve pretty much mastered the ordering hacks that locals use to maximize their meal:
- Garlic Ribeye: Cooked to medium perfection, tender and rich.
- Toowoomba Pasta: A absolute classic in Korea—a creamy, slightly spicy fettuccine that never disappoints.
- The Salad Hack: Instead of getting two standard side soups, we swapped one soup for a side house salad (for a small extra charge) and added a fried chicken tender on top. It turns a simple side into a mini Chicken Tender Salad!
- Aussie Cheese Fries: Rich, savory, and huge in portion.

The food was fantastic, but the portion size was massive. We were completely stuffed, so we ended up taking the leftover Aussie Cheese Fries packed to-go (Ssi-jang). Afterwards, we strolled around Lotte Department Store in Nowon to do some window shopping and walk off all those calories.

2. Movie Night: Seeing “Odyssey” in Recliner Seats
Next, we went to watch the movie Odyssey. Since the runtime is quite long—around $2\text{ hours and 40 minutes}$—we made sure we were fully ready before heading in.
We got seats G12 and G13 in Theater 9, which offered a great view. One thing I love about going to the cinema in Korea nowadays is that almost every upgraded hall features fully motorized recliner seats as standard.
Back when I was in middle school, movie theater seats were nowhere near this comfortable. Even though ticket prices in Korea have been rising over the years, it at least feels like theaters are continuously investing back into luxury facilities and viewer comfort.
The movie itself was incredible. Keeps you on the edge of your seat! Although tracking all the complex Greek and European mythological names gave me a bit of a headache, following the core plot and overarching storyline was smooth sailing.

3. Ending the Day with Cold Noodles
For dinner, we kept it light and cozy at home by making a bowl of Yeolmu-guksu (cold noodles topped with young summer radish kimchi and ice-cold broth). Afterwards, we took a gentle evening walk around the neighborhood.
It was a truly nice, heartwarming Sunday. Days like this remind me how wonderful simple happiness is, and I hope this peaceful vibe carries on into the coming weeks!
