1. Banghak & Uijeongbu Date!
Today, I went on a date with my girlfriend. We watched a Spider-Man movie in Banghak-dong and then headed to Uijeongbu to eat Budae-jjigae (army stew). It was my first time trying authentic Uijeongbu Budae-jjigae.
2. How to get there?

To get to Uijeongbu, you can take a city bus or the subway. Subway Line 1 is probably more convenient, but I decided to take the bus.

3. Uijeongbu Budae Jjigae street
When you arrive, you’ll find the Uijeongbu Budae-jjigae Street. Most of the restaurants there are likely great places to eat.
Among them, I went to Myeongseong Budae-jjigae. The staff member(I-mo-nim, 이모님) took our order. We ordered two servings of Budae-jjigae and added a ramyun dish(korea st ramen). Most customers are Korean, but foreign tourists shouldn’t have any trouble ordering either.
4. My Honest Review & Taste Test

The stew is boiled right at your table, and the staff will let you know when it’s ready to eat. Even if they don’t, you can pretty much tell just by looking at it. At the very least, once the ramen noodles are cooked, you are good to go. Start with the ramen first.
5. Things to Do Nearby
These days, Budae-jjigae is widely sold all over Korea. Because of that, if a regular Budae-jjigae scores a 100 in taste, the one in Uijeongbu wasn’t quite a 200 level. It was more like a 120 – 130 score. Still, since this is the birthplace of Uijeongbu Budae-jjigae, I think visiting the area itself makes it a meaningful trip.
After your meal, I recommend taking a walk toward the Shinsegae Department Store attached to Uijeongbu Station.
